Coverage Overview

  • Employees, officials and volunteers are provided liability coverage on an excess basis while they operate a personal vehicle on an NDIRF member’s behalf
  • Physical damage coverage can be obtained on an actual cash value basis for all vehicles. Only fire trucks and ambulances may obtain stated amount coverage. The stated amount may be selected up to a limit necessary to obtain a brand new vehicle
  • Expanded coverage for the normal complement of equipment or property, installed or portable, consistent with operations of firefighting, law enforcement, and medical emergency vehicles
  • Rental reimbursement coverage is provided after a loss to a covered auto when a substitute is needed
  • $2,500 coverage is provided for damage to personal property of others being transported
  • $5,000 coverage is provided for physical damage to an employee’s or rostered volunteer’s personal auto while responding to an emergency
  • No deductible for glass repair
  • $250 towing or on-site maintenance coverage for disabled private passenger vehicles
  • $2,500 towing or on-site maintenance coverage for disabled vehicles other than private passenger vehicles
  • Release of pollutants from a normal mechanical function or from an upset or overturn is included
  • $250,000 coverage for sudden and accidental escape of pollutants
  • Coverage provided for freezing pumps if equipment/auto is maintained
