ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF UNDERWRITING
The North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund (NDIRF) is seeking an Assistant Director of Underwriting to lead and support our underwriting team in delivering outstanding service to our members and agents. This role plays a key part in supervising underwriting operations, guiding strategic policy decisions, and ensuring regulatory compliance. With your expertise, you will
help shape effective risk management strategies, evaluate complex exposures, and foster a culture of excellence and collaboration within the department.
As a key leader within the organization, you will also be instrumental in mentoring staff, driving operational improvements, and contributing to NDIRF’s ongoing success and innovation. We’re looking for candidates with at least five years of progressive experience in property and casualty underwriting, strong analytical and communication skills, and a passion for public service.

OUTSIDE CLAIMS ADJUSTER
The North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund (NDIRF) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Outside Claims Adjuster to join our Claims Department. This position involves conducting on- site investigations, evaluating liability and damages, and managing the full claims process for various insurance coverages, including property and casualty. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional communication abilities, and experience in handling multi- line claims. A bachelor’s degree in public or business administration (or related field), along with four to five years of relevant experience, is preferred. Travel throughout North Dakota is required, and a valid driver’s license is necessary.
As a key member of our team, the Outside Claims Adjuster will work under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Claims and be expected to act with a high degree of independence and professionalism. Responsibilities include coordinating with attorneys and independent adjusters, preparing reports, managing claims reserves, and participating in settlement negotiations. The role demands a proactive problem solver who can represent NDIRF positively while resolving claims efficiently and equitably.
